Jake Carrick Profile
In the past, heavyweights have dominated the rookie ranks.
Not this year, though.
The Sault Greyhounds have a smaller guy who can go toe-to-toe with anyone. Jake Carrick is listed at 5′11 176, but that hasn’t stopped him from showing the league what he’s all about.
He sent us his profile this week, so take a look at what he’s got to say. This is a kid to keep an eye on in the future.

Name and current team: Jake Carrick - Soo Greyhounds
Team last season: Markham Majors
Age: 17
Current Height/Weight: 5′11, 175
Nickname: “Joe… dirt *laughs* ”
Who’s the toughest player you’ve faced? I’d have to say (Mike) Mascioli definitely had the hardest punch, even with the bucket on.
What superstitions or rituals do you have before a game to prepare for a fight? There isn’t much really. If anything it’s sewer ball.
What road trip are you looking forward to the most?
We’re pretty much done with roadies now except one I think. I’m really looking forward to playoffs though.
If you weren’t in hockey, what would you want to do? I couldn’t tell you, but maybe go to university.
What current or former hockey player do you model your game after? I’d have to say some one like (Darcy) Tucker or (Sean) Avery.
What’s your style of fighting? Basically I’ll try to knock him out or I’m getting knocked out *laughs*
What’s the most interesting thing anyone has said to you in the penalty box before? I’ve never really heard anything special. I remember (Jesse) Hebscher and I compaired cuts and blood though *laughs*
Which players, if any, are you hoping to drop the gloves with? Why?
(Marco) Maggio because we’ve never really had a chance to go. I’d love a rematch with (Kaine) Geldart and (Matthew) Bragg.
