Julien Demers Profile
Ottawa hasn’t had a willing heavyweight in a couple years - until now.
He’s not a major name yet, but is certainly willing to show people what he’s all about. Julien Demers has dropped the gloves with some of the bigger names around the league and he took the time last week to talk to us for a few minutes. Enjoy!

What superstitions or rituals do you have before a game to prepare for a fight?
— I don’t really have any specifically for fighting. I normally just get ready for the game same way I do for any other game.
What’s your favorite road trip?
—- Favorite road trip would probably be the Windsor, Saginaw, Plymouth trip. We don’t play them often and I like playing in front of the two American crowds.
If you weren’t in hockey, what would you want to do?
– I would probably be at University down in the States playing lacrosse.
What current or former hockey player do you model your game after?
— Dion Phaneuf. I like his style of play and he’s never scared to get in peoples faces. It doesn’t matter who you are.
Who do you think is going to be the heavyweight champ this year?
— I’d say a toss up between Richard Greenop and Justin Soryal.
What’s the most interesting thing anyone has said to you in the penalty box before?
— One of the penalty box guys asked me once why I fought people I didn’t even know. I told him why not, I’m not going to fight my friends
Tell us about your best OHL fight:
— My best OHL fight would have had to been last year against Oshawa. I fought Murray Free. I was new enough to the league didn’t really know the guy he asked to fight right at the start of the game. So we did and I pretty much just filled him the whole time in front of all the Oshawa fans. Felt pretty good after that one.
