Windsor Spitfire Passes Away

In a tragic loss, Windsor Spitfire captain Mickey Renaud died this afternoon after collapsing at his home in Tecumseh.
An autopsy is scheduled for today. The Spitfire Family Day event was canceled and a press conference was being held this afternoon.
On behalf of OHL Tough Guys, I want to send out our deepest condolences to the Renaud family, their friends, and the Spitfire organization.

Mickey was just such a wonderful young man. He was just so happy and absolutely loved hockey and everything that came along with it.
I’ve known Mickey since he was just a little guy. He’s gone to school with my brother since kindergarden. My brother has special needs and Mickey always made him feel like the was “one of the boys”.
When my grandmother passed 2 years ago, Mickey got a stick signed by the entire team.
I will forever cherish the one time that I was able to play hockey with Mickey. Thanks for letting me stop those wicked slapshots of yours!
He’s lived every day to the fullest. I only wish i could have his strength and passion. He was the ultimate definition of “real”.
You were an amazing person, Mickey. I know your spirit will be even stronger. He will forever be in our hearts and in our minds!
My condolances to his father, mother, brother, and little sister. I also feel bad for his teammates. This is a terrible loss to everyone.
Keep your spirts up Spits! Mickey’s going to be right there with you, pushing you to get better! Go out and win it for Mick!
Reast in peace my friend. You’ll be greatly missed by all!
god bless your famiy and you rest in peace!
RIP MICKEY # 18 FOREVER!!!
